All the while the voice inside of me kept getting stronger until the day came when the truth exploded from me and there was no turning back.

There is nothing like pushing through a day at work when you are feeling tired and frustrated. Especially when that day turns into a week and all you long for is the weekend!

We dream about how we want things to be but just don’t have the energy to get started. We know that living for the weekend is no way to live and that each moment is sacred so what can we do to get energized? How do we restore our hope and happiness?

I believe that when we begin to struggle in our lives it is because we are out of alignment; it is because what we are doing is not matching what we are thinking. Sometimes there are blocks and restrictions in our thinking and bodies that prevent us from moving forward and negative self-defeating thoughts take over.

The best place to start in regaining our natural peaceful and positive state is by returning to our breath and developing an accepting and loving awareness and appreciation of self.

It is love that makes the impossible possible. ~ Indian Proverb

There are many ways to get achieve this, through positive self talk and affirmations, yoga, meditation, visualization practices but one of my favourites is going to the spa for energy healing and deep tissue massage!!!

A moment of bliss

A moment of bliss

Good Morning!!

Maybe it is the freshness of spring and all of the vivid colours but I feel energized and excited today! My ideas are flowing and I am really happy! I love these moments of pure bliss and joy!

There is a perfectly calm breeze, the sun is shining brightly and the ocean is sparkling. The birds are singing and for some wonderful reason the traffic is quiet. There is a radio playing in the distance and I can hear a woman’s voice singing an old romantic song. And when I look out from my balcony, I can see a woman and her son in their pajamas, chatting and enjoying a cup of coffee on their balcony looking at the ocean.

I am so grateful for these peaceful moments when I am quiet and not wishing or wanting but accepting and therefore receiving all that is already here – right here in this moment.

Do you wish you were somewhere else?

Do you wish you were somewhere else?

I got a mass email the other day asking me where it was that I would rather be. I thought and thought, I am already living on a tropical island, so this was a little difficult to answer… πŸ™‚

So, I changed the wording to instead say,
Where do you want to be in the future? In the end I came up with tons of ideas.

I want to emphasize that I advocate to Embrace your Life – now – as it is, to look for the goodness that already exists and stop searching for meaning outside of us and start living meaningfully right now!

So using the adjusted question, I liked the exercise of forming dreamy pictures. And so, I wanted to ask you:

Where is it that you want to go if you could go right now? Anywhere in the world? Who would you go with? What would you do? ANYTHING!! πŸ™‚ Think big!!

Would you go: to a tropical island, lay in the sun sipping a pina colada? Or jump in bed to watch a movie, snuggling with a loved one? Or look out at the view from a mountain peak, listening to the pace of your breath?

Where is it that you want to be? And then write it down.

These pictures are pictures of your ideal world, of things and people you want in your life, places you dream about visiting or spending more time in but may not believe it to be possible. Or at least “just not right now”. We can be very creative in our reasons of why not to pursue our dreams.

But dreams are hints and messages signalling to us to follow our passion, our life purpose and to pursue our ideal life. Once we become aware of our ideal pictures, we must then write them down, this becomes our plan and place to start! All is possible!!

I am a featured writer for Intent.com, it is an “online community that provides the best content to create your aspirations”. The project was created by Deepak Chopra’s daughter Mallika and this week they asked our group to write about tips on saving money.

I have a lot of ideas to share on this topic and you guessed it, they are heavily inspired by living in the DR. I see people every day living on very little, so I thought and thought, and found a commonality… SLOW DOWN!!

On general terms, the pace in North America is fast! We often overspend and overeat! We rush around to meetings, appointments and lessons leaving little time to plan, let alone digest our meals. We slurp and gulp things and wonder why we have indigestion, feel stressed and experience trouble sleeping. We choose the fastest foods to cook, often from a box because we have to move on quickly to the next event.

How much money do you spend at the grocery store in a month?

How much food do you throw out at the end of each week? Or after each meal?

Save money by ~

  • Slowing down and taking time to plan your meals. Find your favourite recipes, create a list and don’t buy what isn’t on your list.
  • When eating, slow down and eat only what you need – avoid stuffing yourself. Eat mindfully. Taste and enjoy your food. Think quality not quantity.
  • Eat leftovers and if you don’t like leftovers -adjust how much you buy, avoiding throwing food out at the end of the week or after meals.

I remember being at a colmado [a small convenience store selling fresh vegetables, fruit, meat, beer and everything else including batteries, diapers and tools πŸ™‚ ] when this little boy asked for 20 pesos worth of olive oil – the man poured a specific and small amount into a bag and the boy carefully walked away with it. I thought about how specific the amount was and how necessary oil is in cooking and how little we need to make a meal. We are so used to having an abundance of food – we do not feel threatened by a potential lack of food. We have bottles and varieties of oil in our pantries. We are so fortunate!

So if you are looking for ways to save money and live well ~ slow down, nourish your soul by nourishing your body by eating wholesome food slowly and only what you need, be graceful and mindful.
