How do you create and use positive affirmations?

I have used positive affirmations for many years and have witnessed amazing shifts in my life! I work with my clients on developing their own affirmations to use throughout the day to let go of negativity and to create a higher vibration in their lives.
What is an affirmation and how do you use one?

I believe that everyone benefits from having their own coach and I have been studying the Law of Attraction through Jack Canfield’s program for a few months now and today he tweeted a list about Affirmations – so here it is, by Jack Canfield:

#1 An affirmation is a positive statement affirming your being in the state of having already accomplished the goal.

#2 So many affirmations out there. Why not create your own? Start with the words “I am” and remember to use present tense.

#3 Remember, affirmations CHANGE things. They Release the Brakes (and the breaks) and change your limiting beliefs.

#4 Remember to state affirmations in the positive. Affirm what you WANT, not what you don’t want.

#5 Affirmations program your subconscious mind.

#6 Keep your affirmations brief and repeat it often! Carry it in your pocket. Post-it to your steering wheel. Send it to your own voice mail.

#7 The Law of Attraction is INTENSIFIED by affirmations.

#8 Include an action word for your affirmations (ending in ing).

#9 Include at least one DYNAMIC emotion or feeling word in your affirmations.

#10 Use affirmations to greatly accelerate your success.

#11 Make affirmations for YOURSELF (not others).

#12 Use affirmations to create the life you DREAM of.

Don’t Give Up on Your Dreams!

For over 4 years, I walked around in the world thinking that I was likely infertile. One Sunday morning a few months ago, I prayed.

I thanked God for “bringing me to a place of peace in my journey, that if I was not meant to have my own children that I have at least found the beautiful children through my volunteering that I can mother.” I continued with tears streaming down my face, “If this is why I am here in the Dominican Republic then this is my destiny, I accept this and thank you because these children are so special and share with me so much love!”I continued to pray and felt enormous peace.
The next morning I found out that I was pregnant! My dreams came true after 4 years!

I write this not to say that the only happy ending for a woman facing infertility is to have a baby. I share this because the happy ending is about finding peace with the moment and gaining self-acceptance, and trusting and knowing that this time of pain will pass.

It is about having faith and recognizing that God has a plan and is preparing you for something special, even if we might not see exactly what it is right now.”

Being in the DR has been a rich and life-changing experience; I found true love and have had moments of true clarity and personal insight. I feel blessed for having had this experience exactly how it has happened.

It is time to let go and continue onward with what lies ahead. I am immensely excited for what is to come and to see how it unfolds. I want to share my positive affirmation that has taken me through dark times and times of celebration: I believe that I am exactly where I am meant to be and that goodness is constantly being sent to me.

When you feel resistence to change: hold on to your dreams and visions for the future, find acceptance and gratitude of where you are in the journey; look for and embrace all of the opportunities that enter your life. These are the choices that will lead us toward greater experiences, our next life lessons and our true potential.

Do you wish you were somewhere else?

Do you wish you were somewhere else?

I got a mass email the other day asking me where it was that I would rather be. I thought and thought, I am already living on a tropical island, so this was a little difficult to answer… πŸ™‚

So, I changed the wording to instead say,
Where do you want to be in the future? In the end I came up with tons of ideas.

I want to emphasize that I advocate to Embrace your Life – now – as it is, to look for the goodness that already exists and stop searching for meaning outside of us and start living meaningfully right now!

So using the adjusted question, I liked the exercise of forming dreamy pictures. And so, I wanted to ask you:

Where is it that you want to go if you could go right now? Anywhere in the world? Who would you go with? What would you do? ANYTHING!! πŸ™‚ Think big!!

Would you go: to a tropical island, lay in the sun sipping a pina colada? Or jump in bed to watch a movie, snuggling with a loved one? Or look out at the view from a mountain peak, listening to the pace of your breath?

Where is it that you want to be? And then write it down.

These pictures are pictures of your ideal world, of things and people you want in your life, places you dream about visiting or spending more time in but may not believe it to be possible. Or at least “just not right now”. We can be very creative in our reasons of why not to pursue our dreams.

But dreams are hints and messages signalling to us to follow our passion, our life purpose and to pursue our ideal life. Once we become aware of our ideal pictures, we must then write them down, this becomes our plan and place to start! All is possible!!

Share Your Dreams!

Good Afternoon!! Last week I wrote about ensuring that your goals are yours and not what you think you should have or want etc..

I received a few emails saying that this topic was really helpful and because I love talking about goals ~ I decided to share another tip:

Share and speak regularly about your dreams and goals with someone else.

Think about the past, was there ever a time when there was something that you really wanted but didn’t get? Did you end up dismissing the idea, dream or goal because it seemed unobtainable, silly or ridiculous?

What would have happened if you would have told someone about that dream? Well, try it today and find out. Here is an exercise I use in my coaching practice.

Think about something that you have always wanted in your life. I am talking really, really wanted – something that when you think about it, your heart beats faster and you smile.

Now write it out completely describing everything you see, feel, hear, taste, touch and smell and then choose someone to share it with – someone you can trust and ask them to simply listen.

Now describe to them the picture you have of your ideal mate, body, career, home or health. Use sensory descriptors – take them into the picture with you.

What you will find is that once these words escape your mouth they become more real and you see that new ideas and opportunities form because your dream is looking for ways to take form. AND because someone knows about your dream and goal – you are held more accountable!

Another reason to share with others is that, it is quite possible that the person you shared with will connect you with ideas, resources or people that will lead you further along in your journey. So please try it and share your dreams! :o)

In light of this topic: I would like to share my intention and dream with you ~ “My goal is to expand my business and reach more people, sharing inspirational and empowering information to help people align with their ideal lives and evolve toward their potential.”

Embrace Your Life exactly as it is now

Wow! I don’t know about you but every time I read something in a magazine or paper or tune into the news, the message I keep hearing is that I need to eat better, take a course, exercise more, be happy… While I absolutely agree and am completely passionate about people developing their potential and aligning with their ideal lives, I think there is a step that has to happen before the change process can really stick.
In order for change to be meaningful and truly transforming you need to get quiet and listen to what you really need or want.

Surrendering to the circumstances in your life, accepting, getting honest and really embracing your life exactly as it is, is where I think the change process really begins and continues.

You may only have brief moments of insight but there is something so peaceful about embracing exactly where you are in this moment.

While you keep an eye on what your goals are, making choices aligned with how you want to express yourself ideally in the world, instead of fighting with yourself about what isn’t, ask yourself what is?

* What is going well in your life?
* What do you love?
* Who do you love?
* What is going on in your life that brings you joy?

I have considered these questions personally, and in the spirit of aligning with your ideal life and that which brings happiness and joy (and love of hot weather!), I have amended the length of the Follow Your Heart Goals group from 6 weeks to 4 and am heading back early to my home in the sunny south.
